The smartphone market is getting so aggressive these days. Technologies getting batter, users base getting bigger and the price is getting cheaper. Whenever I think about the best cheaper phones the very first phone comes to my mind is the Lenovo ZUK Z2PLUS then last year’s POCO F1 from Xiaomi was the best budget flagship device across the mobo industry.
There are lots of manufacturers doing a very good job in budget segment devices. And one more giant OEM just entered into this category.
I’m talking about Samsung. Samsung one of the giant phone makers from a decade but I don’t like their phones much, there is much reason of that like I think Samsung’s devices cost you more than other companies offering you (even better) in very cheaper price.
Yeah, I know its Samsung, but why I would buy the same phone from Samsung where I have to pay more. It doesn’t make sense. But I also appreciate that their NOTE and GALAXY series is good and gives performance up to the price.
Samsung has already tried many attempts to make the field in the mid-range segment with the J series or C series. But those devices were not so powerful but they did good marketing.
So now once again Samsung launched their M series smartphones. As the company said that M series smartphones will be budged friendly mid-range powerful device where you wouldn’t have to sacrifice anything in your budget. Samsung has launched two phones under this M series section the M10 and M20.
Bigger numbers are a better number so here M20 is a little bit better than M10.
Let’s dig in.
Let me start with their price. The M10’s 2/16GB variant is Rs.7990/- and Rs.8990/- for the 3/32GB.
And M20 comes with 3/32GB Rs.10990 and the higher variant 4/64GB has Rs.12990 price tag.
The M20 comes with a 6.3inch infinity V (drop-notch) display with full HD+ resolution along with 19.5.9 aspect ratio. And M10 comes with a 6.2inch same infinity v display with only HD+ resolution.
Both phones have the same chipset under the hood which is Samsung’s Exynos 7904soc. Here is the questing arise that “is this chipset can deliver a standard performance?”
I will say that this chipset is not directly competing with the snapdragon’s 636 but it can deliver a performance like the old Snapdragon 625. The chipset has 8 cores where Samsung put 6 efficient cores based on Arm A53 architecture clocked at 1.6 GHz and other 2 cores based on Arm A73 architecture clocked at 1.8 GHz. So I would like to say that the Exynos7904 is not built for power hungry applications. The two higher ends A73 cores can handle most of the heavy task but it will struggle if you try to multitasking.
Even the Mali-G71MP2 GPU doesn’t instill confidence in its graphics processing capabilities. It might have a large core (similar to the 1.2GHz Mali-G71 MP1 on the Exynos 7885) but don’t expect it to handle heavy games like a Qualcomm SD660.
From the camera side, both devices have same rear camera setup of 13-megapixel primary sensor with an f/1.9 aperture and a 5-megapixel ultra-wide sensor. But there is a little bit different in front camera which is 8mp f/2.0 in M20 and 5mp f/2.0 in M10.
As I already mentioned the prices and the storage variants also both devices can be expended up-to 512GB of micro-Sd via a dedicated slot. Moreover, both devices are pretty good at the battery. The M10 has a 3400Mah battery and the M20 has a giant 5000Mah battery both this device support fast charging using USB-C port.
Samsung has done a pretty good job in these devices both in specs and the price now let see how these phones deliver performance in the real world.
